RIP Randy Jones

Just heard that my 1st favorite Padre has passed away . I'm in tears . He was the reason I began rooting for the Padres in 1975 . I live in Michigan and loved how he dominated with a mid 80 mph fastball and off spread pitches.

Fabulous pitcher and an even more fabulous person.  My wife and I participated in many of his fund raising events for charity and we loved meeting this Padre icon in person.  RIP Randy!

A great ambassador for Padres baseball and truly a great person. Prayers to the Jones family.

He was my first favorite Padre, too. He is a true legend. How is he not in the Baseball HOF?

Randy Jones's playing career was over before my time. He seems like he was everything you would want a franchise icon to be in their post playing career. Whenever people in the game who knew him shared stories about him you could tell there was a real love and respect behind it. RIP to a Padres legend.

Always remember the PA guy just flying through the position players names as they took the field to open the game. And when Randy was pitching, you'd get a ..." behind the plate Freddie Kendall, and ON the mound.....RANNNNDY JOOOOOONES!
