Unless NYM and ATL are neck and neck on the last day of the season and the NYM want to win the NL East for the bye … might go with DeGrom or Scherzer on WED and that would elimate one for the Wild Card series if they lose. Same for ATL if they run out Fried on WED to win the Division.
Both teams could be debating the advantage / disadvantage of getting the bye (and the extra time off without competition) vs the added risk of playing extra games and incurring injuries or getting bumped in a short series.
I guess we should be rooting for the two teams tied going into the last game of the season … keep the pressure on them … maybe deflate the loser a bit going into WC series.

Yup.. the advantage is you get 1 SP in essence winning the WC round and giving you a Bye ...without eliminating you from the WC round if it doesn't work out.. best scenario would be Degroom on short rest on Tuesday and Max on Wed short rest eliminating both from WC 1 and 2 games..and only DeGroom available for WC 3... ditto Freid + Wright.. I dont think Strader will be healthy enough for WC rd..if at all for postseason
