Alfaro won't C a day game after a night game..maybe he DH's.. Myers played in like 16 straight games let his knee take 2 days off... no need to taxed Alfaro and Myers with this lineup..I like Drury giving Profar a day off...

I watched the game on TV and recorded it and watched that 1st inning 3 or 4 times this morning and still can't believe how electric that was.. I mean Manny looked freaking relaxed.. normally he looks a little stressed taking those deep breaths in between swings ... I dont think he even took one deep breath.. it was like ok..I got guys in front and behind me..just need to be me and I'll be alright..

Maybe v RHP wanted to start the game L - L with Profar and Soto but v LHP wanted to start the game R - R with Profar and Machado.

Can really see that athletic Myers enjoying the game at 1B surrounded by teammates, coaches, opponent base runners as opposed to being bored by himself in RF. I forgot how good he could look defensively at 1B. Vast difference from Hosmer / Voit.

Don’t see him being resigned UNLESS they cannot get it done with Bell and Myers drops his ask to maybe $8MM. Not sure they can find much at 1B for less with Myers’ normal production (which is slightly above average offense). They probably will let him explore FA to see if he can top whatever the Padres offer … while they work on Bell.

I know being frustrated with Myers under his $20MM contract but the same guy at $8MM might not be that bad with “average” production and not the major piece in the line-up. Plus just simply like watching him and his demeanor on the field … enjoys the game and it shows.

Otherwise 3-4 seeing eye bloopers and Soto mis reading a fly ball has got him behind in this game and his pitch count about to get him pulled.

These kinds of games have to really be frustrating for Starters….
Then we’ve had Drury robbed of a homer and a Soto laser turned into a DP.

 

And as I type this Joe gives up a 3 run bomb….C’est La vie
