Pitching was bad.
Disappointed that Lucchesi has not shown improvement in his second season. His lack of command will keep him a bottom of the rotation arm with just enough good efforts to keep him in the ML. Yesterday, he needed 94 pitches to go just 4 2/3 innings. Consider:
2018: pre-All Star 3.34 ERA / post-All Star 4.88 ERA
2019: pre-All Star 3.94 ERA / post-All Star 5.23 ERA
No improvement and two years of fading in the 2nd half ... worrisome. Maybe if that pattern holds ... and with “better potential” coming ... maybe a mid-season 2020 trade before the fade arrives?
Wingenter ... bad. Edwards .. bad. Memory is poor but as I recall Edwards always had command issues but had a bigger FB and clearly was effective in 2017-18. I guess given the lack of RP options, guess they will let Balsley some time to right the ship since Edwards is under control for 2020 at a low cost ... ST will be the decision point (no minor league options as I recall for 2020).

Edwards is Arb eligible a 2nd time; so think they have to decide before ST or end up eating at least some of that $.
If he looks like this the rest of the season, it's a no brainer to non-tender him. But let's see if Balsley can help.

I was supremely frustrated watching Lucchesi yesterday. He straight up wastes so many pitches with ones that never, at any point in their trajectory, could possibly induce a swing from a player.

Grant is oafish at best. And while we're at it, I'm not terribly impressed with Orsillo.
Change the uni's, change the announcers, change the culture!

been anti-Grant for years but would like to see Orsillo get a run at play by play with a real analyst such as Scanlan, Gwynn, or Sweeney. Without Grant, Orsillo seems very good as a play by play guy (and you have to hear a lot of other teams' guys to appreciate really how dull they can be).
Have contended that Grant's "style" tends to drag the play by play guy down to his level ... to a second rate comedy team. Only Enberg withstood that trap but the likes of Proctor, Masur, Neely, and even Vasgersian succumbed.
Bored with the game or not ... if they are "professional" their first responsibility is to give an entertaining report / analysis of the game for the fans who actually turn in to see the game.
