Total garbage move by Showalter but Joe had the last laugh and gave them all the BIG middle finger.

That will not be forgotten as he accused Musgrove of cheating

Bush League from the Manager to the Fans

Yep. It sucks that the majority of the post game coverage has focused on the substance check instead of Musgrove's historical dominance.

In the midst of an all around good series vs. the Mets … Cronenworth really struggled at the bat. With the LAD running out three straight LHSP … mights we see Cronenworth on the bench and Drury at 2B. Myers who has been swinging the bat better and his 1B defense clearly has impressed Melvin … Bell who is showing some signs of life at bat … should get the starts.

For a .000 BA during round 1..Wil surely os locked in at the plate..same .000 from Crone doesn't look the same..

Trent 1..Nola 2..Profar 3 . KIM 4 and .Manny 5 were our best hitters OPS wise in rd 1..Soto .333 BA and Bell were also very productive... Drury/Wil and Crone not so much...

Pitching (sans Morejon's meltdown) yes even Snell has been good.. Snell for his struggles + an UMP that has been horrible to Pads (Pads 0-10 in road starts with him behind the plate) kept us in it

Well, they both had the same batting stats in the NYM series, .000. Although Crone had 13 ABs to Drurys 4. Not sure what the difference in defense would be, so not sure if that plays into the decision. Might boil down to the individual performance of Crone and Drury against the nights SP.

Cronenworth's defense is far better than Drury. Offense in 2022:

Cronenworth vs: Kershaw (1 - 4); Anderson (2 -9); Urias (0-10);

Drury vs: Kershaw (1-3); Anderson (2-10); Urias (1-3);

clearly small sample sizes but slight advantage to Drury on offense ... and Melvin just may want to get Drury  in the line-up to keep him engaged for the rest of the series / playoffs.

Should note these three are very good pitchers so not surprised no great stats ...

Myers vs: Kershaw (1-2); Anderson (1-5); Urias (0-10)

Bell vs: Kershaw (DNP); Anderson (1-8); Urias (2-7)

Lets remember the hard elbow to Profars back at 1B by Alonso..and the HBP to Grishams back at 96mph..(not to mention Joe's ears)..2023 Garcia or Suarez 100mph to the ribs of Alonso a must (and I aint a head hunting type) but Pete needs to wear one where it hurts

Joel Sherman in the Post:

The Mets’ collective lineup lacked the impact of the Padres’ eighth-place hitter. Apparently if you hold up the name Trent Grisham to a mirror, you will see Chipper Jones reflected back. A .184 regular-season hitter, Grisham reached safely in eight of 12 plate appearances against the Mets. Grisham homered off Scherzer in Game 1 and deGrom in Game 2. He reached in all four plate appearances in Game 3.

I'm surprised nobody has said much about the game last night.....Musgrove threw one of the best games of his career and the Padres finally were able to come through with some timely hitting to drive in some runs. Yes they left a few out there but overall a really good game. The Mets were so off balance the whole night that Musgrove and Nola just kept doing what was working.

Gotta give it up to Trent Grisham....had a terrible year but he came through the whole series and nobody can argue that his play in center field was less than stellar just like a gold glove outfielder should do

Suarez and Hader slammed the door and the Mets are done.....on to Los Angeles.

Go Pads !!!

Im just going with the theory that most of us are still in shock, taking the series in such great fashion. Especially while Machado and Soto were both relatively quiet.

But your right, everything resets with the start of the playoffs, and SD took that chance and ran with it, all the way to the Citi Bank. So to speak.

Now, have that same focus and performance against the Dodgers and give them have the same view as the NYM will have for the WS. Their COUCH!!!
