I think this two game set will be a gauge of who this Padres team is. This is a match up of two teams that were supposed to compete for the division lead, and both are stumbling at this point. This two game set will go a lot towards showing me what kind of fire the team has in their gut.

Gilbert and Kirby are both really good. They're the type of pitchers the offense is going to need to produce against if the team is going to get where it wants to go.

Sanchez again! He's off to an unreal start to his Padres career.

Amazing how Sanchez has outperformed all other Padre catchers in their 50 some games in just 7! It's absurd....but I'll take it!

I would say that was arguably the best offensive performance of the season. A lot of hard hit balls and contributions up and down the lineup. Soto with the first 5 hit game of his career. It turns out maybe he can at least occasionally hit out of the 2 hole. It's also all meaningless if they don't start doing it consistently. Hopefully a trip to Colorado helps in that regard.

Once again, this series is one offensively pathetic game, and one with an overabundance of offense. The inconsistency with this team is absolutely maddening.
Well, I guess splitting the series is better than losing both.
I hate road games in COL!!
