Padres vs Mariners

Page 1 of 2Next

Can the Padres keep it rolling ?

Sweep the Cards and Rockies and now get the Mariners that have been No Hit twice this year....maybe get Meyers back and have Paddack, Lamet/Weathers followed by Darvish on the mound....I am looking forward to seeing how Jared Kelenic does for the Mariners while the Padres win 🙂

SEA was leading the division to start the season. Have some pieces that are playing well. Should not take them lightly. This is the type of team that SD used to have issues with in the past. Need to knuckle down, play good, clean, hard baseball and take two of three.

Lets face it, take two of three for the balance of the season and we are champs!!

The Mariners are dealing with a COVID-19 situation, as reported by both The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal and ESPN.com’s Jeff Passan.  At least one player has tested positive for the virus, Passan reports, “and there is concern within the organization that the relatively low level of vaccination within the clubhouse could be problematic.”  Not only are the Mariners under the league-mandated 85% vaccination threshold for the lessening of COVID protocols, but the M’s “are among the least-vaccinated teams in” the entire league.

================

Depends who and how many Mariners are impacted ... could really impact their line-up (and maybe the game).

... not exactly the claim to fame you want  for your team.

We all hope that players are trying to play their best for the teammates / fans .... but have to wonder if some players (especially on a sub-500 team) just might not care about missing games, putting their teammates at risk ... after all they still get paid. Understand the variety of reasons people choose not to get vaccinated and also the ability to potentially get the virus after vaccinated  ... just does not set well when their personnel choice adversely impacts others. Think if this were the Padres in a September playoff race against their completion for a playoff berth (or in the playoffs).

Have more respect for those who last year opted out with no pay.

8 -1 after 2 innings, couldn't have asked for a better start.  Great swing on HR by FTJ. I know we've heard this before but Pham 2 for 2 with 2 lasers. (Fingers crossed )

Well I guess we "kept it rolling"!

I for one am happy to see FTJ in the cleanup spot.

I get wanting him to have as many AB's as possible but I prefer the extra runs he will knock in even more.

But,I think I'd prefer him in the #3 spot with Machado or Hosmer(depending on starting pitcher) in the cleanup spot.

Then again,I am not one who believes the spot in the order means much to a players performance unless it's possibly the 8th place guy who won't get much to hit with the pitcher behind him(until the DH anyway).

I think Tatis will do Tatis things whether 1st or 4th in the lineup....so give him the RBI opportunities.

Actually, the way he's hit the last two games just goes to show he wasn't hitting well before "just because" he was hitting leadoff.

Against RH starters:

Grish

Crone

Tatis

Hosmer

Machado

Myers

Against LH:

Grish

Crone

Tatis

Machado

Myers

Hosmer

But, I don't think Preller will ever move Hosmer to the 6th spot.

Well they kept it rolling in spades.....Paddack threw a great game in my opinion,,,,,95-98 on the FB with location and his change up was money....6 complete and 91 pitches. If he continues like that you would be hard pressed to find a better #4 or 5 starter anywhere.

From top to bottom in the lineup....all those guys were locked in......Grisham started the whole thing, Tatis doing Tatis things....he cracks me up, Hos with that total professional attitude of doing just enough to drive the runs home, Pham, who I cannot stand, was raking so maybe he gets hot for a couple days/weeks but I gotta give it up for my guy.....Cronenworth.....just a ballplayer that is so within himself all the time.....his at bats and approach are what I always tried to get my players to understand......trust your swing and always, always have a plan when you get in the box....as a hitter if you have a plan then you are truly on "offense" and if you don't have a plan then you are a "defensive" hitter hoping you get lucky.....Jake just smoked the ball last night...the gapper was sweet but his Home Run was a BOMB....Sweet, Smooth Swing....it wasn't a question of wheather it was going to be out but more of where it was going to land and not to be lost in all of this.....OUR PADRES share to best winning percentage in MLB with the Giants and are tied for first place in the NL West with the Dodgers one game behind......this has the makings of one smoking hot summer in San Diego......Keep it Rolling

Go Pads !!!

LOL.....Hos just being Hos.....bases loaded and he just takes it the other way......clears the bases as the M's threw it around and Tatis never stopped.....these guys are fun to watch 🙂

SD is solo first place, back of the rotation looking good. Bottom of lime up/bench guys starting to get better. Playing with house money tomorrow and Darvish on the mound. Its good to be a SD fan right now.

Whats wrong buys, dont know how to handle/talk about success?? hahaha 😜
