Quote from Jeremy Hill on April 21, 2022, 3:19 pmThe Dodgers haven't announced who's starting in place of Heaney yet. It seems like there's a good chance we could see 3 lefties though. Hopefully we can get a few more bats going this series.

Quote from Darth_Padre on April 22, 2022, 6:32 amI know its just the first of several series with these pricks, but I hope we show our mettle a bit and show everyone around the league that we are a genuine contender to them for the NL West crown. I think some favorable pitching matchups for us, just hope we bring the bats.

Quote from Randy Manese on April 22, 2022, 4:43 pmIt's really an "undeserved" opportunity for Kerr, who only recently has shown any bit of control with his pitches. However, he is a lefty which may be needed against the Dodgers, and he is already on the 40-man so for those reasons, he was a logical pick. Evan Miller, Tyler Higgins and Tayler Scott (all RHP's) have pitched better than Kerr thus far for El Paso but apparently Padres don't want to DFA anyone at this point to clear a roster spot. Kerr is probably up for the minimum amount of time unless he surprisingly regains his control - Knehr might be brought up if Kerr gets hit hard in this series. Maybe Niebla can work some magic with him because he has the stuff.

Quote from Jeremy Hill on April 22, 2022, 9:50 pmNot an excuse since it's gone both ways, but Ron Kulpa has been legitimately terrible tonight. The zone has been bad and super inconsistent.

Quote from Randy Manese on April 23, 2022, 12:17 amNot too many bright spots for the Padres in this game but I'm happy Lamet did well and Hosmer continues to hit. Hill has looked awful this year and we really need Pomeranz and Castillo to come back to the active roster as soon as they can as our LH RPs. Got to give it to the Dodgers - great line-up and pitching almost completely shut us down. Really need Cronenworth and Grisham to start hitting but 3 lefties in this series, so we'll see what Melvin does.
Gutty performance by Martinez and has a great attitude on the mound. Melvin probably left him in one batter too long but we weren't hitting and I can see he didn't want to burn our high leverage RPs in the first game of the series. Since Martinez threw so many pitches, I'm thinking he comes back as the long man in the Cincy series, backing up either Clevinger or Snell. Going to need to make some roster moves soon.

Quote from Jeremy Hill on April 23, 2022, 10:06 amGrisham, Cronenworth, Voit, and Myers are all off to slow starts. We really need at least 2 of them to get going. The pitching has been mostly great, but it's going to be hard winning consistently while putting up 2 runs or less in half our games.
Clevinger is making 1 more rehab start. I would assume Snell would make at least 1 before coming back too. The Snell situation has been a little weird though, so who knows. With another off day before the Cincy series I don't know if Martinez's workload will really be a concern. We're definitely going to have some decisions to make soon regardless.

Quote from WindsorUK on April 23, 2022, 10:19 amI still think we need offensive help( not in LF though!)
Not a big fan of Snell but I imagine some teams would be? Myers, last year of a contract, might he interest someone? Maybe Nola?Throw in a reliever...
We have too many holes in the lineup to keep up in the West. Tatis will help but we need another offensive weapon.

Quote from MrPadre19 on April 23, 2022, 9:18 pmThat is exactly how the new overtime rule is designed to work.
Keep visiting team from scoring so you know you just need one.Just happen to have your faster player at 2b and your best bunter leading off.
Profar does it again with another assist to come up big.
Suarez with his first ever major league Win.
Darvish with another great start with no win to show for it.
Now…let’s get the game tomorrow and at least give these ******’s something to think about on their way to Az.
