Padres vs Cubs Game Thread

Just ugly.....Villanueva is a dog and Meyers is a dog with different fleas....what a arrogant, no effort prima donna

It's a real shame that fans have more passion and show more effort during a game than Meyers.

These two make it really hard to be a Padres fan.....C'mon All Star Break

This is a joke

Myers should have been benched....period after what he pulled today

Andy Green is in way over his head and has this team 19 games under .500 and keeps his job....no set line up and nothing but excuses

The Cardinals are 2 games over .500 and they FIRE their manager Mike Matheny

How much longer ?

I’m pretty sure the fact that the Cards are built to contend and the Padres aren’t has something to do with it.

Ugly 3 game set ... not sure I saw any Padre look good.

Now the worst record in the entire NL (4th worst in MLB).

Top five draft pick in 2019!

I ALWAYS took issue with Bud Black chopping and changing his line ups on a daily basis. Just leads to poor offensive production. And now Green is doing it as well.

I just can't believe there isn't one guy in the organization that understands how important it is for players to be in a set routine.

I agree. If this is Andy's doing, then hit the pavement pal.

At this point not absolving or blaming Green considering he has quite bundle of below average players who probably would be still below average with "stability" and uncertain the level of "input" the analytics department has in shaping his moves.

I am a fan of consistency with younger players especially on defense. Each position has its own unique aspects that it takes repetition to master   and except for the rare elite talent most players don't come to the game with that skill level at multiple slots. It also takes actually playing. A little less dogmatic about where a player is in the line-up but do think the consistency would allow for the younger players to develop a better approach to their role. Basically for the younger player at the ML level ... too many moving parts to master delays development of all the parts.

Of course, this may be a "transition" team but it clearly is not the core future team considering the age / performance of most of the roster ... only Margot is young with upside the rest are leveling out and about to head to the downside ... so maybe it makes no difference.

However, I have listen to managers, et. al from other teams and the perpetual shuttling of players in and out / up and down the line-up to get favorable "match-ups" is the trend across all MLB except for the few elite players. Even then, listening to Maddon the other day ... he is putting Rizzo leading off .. moving other around .... had Bryant at 3B then RF ... and people think he is a managerial genius. Of course he is winning with vastly superior players ... there is that small factor.

Erlin is dealin!

Too bad we can’t score......

I know I’ll be happy when our offense isn’t bottom 5 in the league....whenever that happens again.

Always scrambling for positives (mainly for my own sanity) .... although he loaded the bases with no outs today he looked tough in getting the next 3 hitters without a run scoring. He struck out the side the other day. Looks like this kid could be a good late inning arm for the coming years ... especially since he is LH.

Anyone have any insight on why Hedges seems to get hit it the glove or helmet on backswings so often?
