Padres vs Braves April 6-9
Quote from LynchMob on April 9, 2023, 1:56 pmWhy wasn't the play yesterday where Odor was out for not touching the plate (until after the next runner had touched the plate) an example of "catcher-illegally-blocking-plate-without-the-ball"?

Quote from Notmyopic on April 9, 2023, 6:12 pmWell, Crismatt should have a chance to work multiple innings tonight. Time to start getting right if he is going to stick around.

I guess we saw that differently … the catcher was positioned at the back end (far side) of the plate but the front (side) was open and if Odor slid he would have hit the plate without interference.

The catcher never blocked the plate as he was on top of it and odor had a clear path to the plate and if Odor would have slid...safe. I still think he got the edge of the plate standing up but when he went back to touch the plate he was screwed...the play wasn't challenged but the Braves Mgr did ask about him going back to touch the plate after Kim had scored and the correct call was Odor is out...he should have just walked to the dugout like he got the plate the first time and the run stays on the board. That was a bonehead play by Odor and an easy call.

Quote from Henry Silvestre on April 9, 2023, 8:19 pmHuge difference at DH in 2023 vs 2022... Voit was like .722 OPS and Bell like .522 OPS as a DH last yr...
So far Carp is in the mid .800s and Cruz is at 1.139 so far.. early BUT... >

Hopefully they both succeed in this platoon situation. That would go a long ways into lengthening this lineup.
