I can't remember the last time there was a scheduled day/night double header. I know they want to give everyone the same break, but it seems like it would have been easier to just start the series yesterday instead.

Wonder if there may be some limitations resulting from the CBA / days off negotiated? Both have Monday off ... PHIL will stay in PHIL and SD has a short flight to TOR so not sure why they did not use that date for the 4th game unless that is "protection" for a rain out.
Scheduling is a complex process with a lot of hidden issues with CBA, site availability, travel, dealing with postponements, etc.

Ugh, I'm not thrilled about starting Ryan Weathers in a must win series at a time when every game is must win against a team we absolutely have to beat. I'd rather start Martinez, Avila, Morejon, or even Waldren at this point.

I definitely agree in a must win series, not all that thrilled but if we do have to call someone up for the start rather than use Joe, I am a bit more ok than I was his last time up with the team. I believe it was his last start in the minors where he went to the slider often and had a really good outing with a bunch of K’s. If we get that Weather, we may be a bit surprised. I imagine there was good feedback from both the staff and Weathers which aided the decision

Weathers has rotated good and bad starts his last handful of outings. He is coming off a very good start. With our beat up bullpen I am a little worried about him in the second game after Snell. As dominant as he has been you still really can't count on Snell for more than 6.

Padres acquired Ben Gamel (LHH OF) from TB. Has been in AAA all season and just so-so … age 31. Non-roster now on EP roster … he may be in play if they drop Carpenter.

Steven Wilson activated with Waldron going down. That makes me feel a little better about the bullpen.

At this point if they're going to keep him around it's time for a phantom injury. Let him try to get back on track in the minors. They can't keep running him out there with where the team is at right now.
