If this holds true it will be interesting to see how Avila does as a starter and if he does well then I guess Martinez will be the long relief

A painful game to watch … Padres strikeout 17 times … early in the game Bogaerts Ks with runner in scoring position … Soto hits into double play with runner in scoring position … then downhill from there.
I guess the Padres did not bring their sense of urgency to MILW. As usual only Kim seemed to play with energy … the rest are the walking dead.

This just hurts my brain.
Padres have a chance in the 7th … scored and only 3 runs down … runners on 1st and 3rd … the big 3 coming up: Soto - Machado - Bogaerts … one will surely get the big hit in this critical game:
1. Soto pops out to SS
2. Machado pops out to 1B
3. Bogaerts weekly grounds out to 2B
The story of the season … and the good news they are all back with big contracts in 2024.
Hard to think the offense has basically come from Sanchez (2 run HR) and Batten (solo HR) neither were envisioned even being on the team as the season started.
Also looks like the wheels have come off the RP … burn out?
Well at least today was a team effort (or lack thereof).
