Game 1 - Padres at Dodgers: Saturday, Oct 5 - 5:38pm, TV: FS1 - San Diego Cox 26
RHP Dylan Cease(14-11, 3.47 ERA, 224 K, .200 BAA) vs RHP Yoshinobu Yamamoto(7-2, 3.00 ERA, 105 K, .229 BAA)Game 2 - Padres at Dodgers: Sunday, Oct 6 - 5:03pm, TV: FS1 - San Diego Cox 26
RHP Yu Darvish(7-3, 3.31 ERA, 78 K, .217 BAA) vs RHP Jack Flaherty(13-7, 3.17 ERA, 194 K, .223 BAA)Game 3 - Dodgers at Padres: Tuesday, Oct 8 - 6:08pm, TV: FS1 - San Diego Cox 26
RHP Michael King(1-0, 0.00 ERA, 12 K, .192 BAA) vs RHP Walker Buehler(1-6, 5.38 ERA, 64 K, .289 BAA)Game 4 - Dodgers at Padres: Wednesday, Oct 9 - 6:08pm, TV: FS1 - San Diego Cox 26
RHP Ryan Brasier(1-0, 7.71 ERA, 1 K, .218 BAA) vs RHP Dylan Cease(0-0, 13.50 ERA, 5 K, .375 BAA)Game 5 - Padres at Dodgers: Friday, Oct 11 - 5:08pm, TV: FOX - San Diego Cox 5
RHP Yu Darvish(1-0, 1.29 ERA, 3 K, .136 BAA) vs RHP Yoshinobu Yamamoto(0-0, 15.00 ERA, 1 K, .357 BAA)The Padres return to Los Angeles just over a week after they fell to the Dodgers. This time the stakes are higher and will be a rematch. This is a home field advantage for the Dodgers because they get three games in L.A. to two games in San Diego. But, this might be more of advantage to the Padres because they have played better on the road this season.
If they win the first two games in L.A. they could win the NLDS at Petco in front of the crowd of Padres fans and not have to return to Dodger country, just like in 2022. Wouldn't that be sweet? Also, we can hope that the Padres will have to face Yamamoto and Flaherty only once.
The Padres beat Yamamoto twice this season scoring 5 runs off him in 1 IP in Korea and 3 runs off him in 5 IP in April in L.A. That was before the Padres had Arraez, Solano, and David Peralta on the team and before Merrill got hot. Last week they scored 3 runs off Flaherty.
We need a solid performance by both Cease and Darvish, especially shutting down and walking him whenever they can or pitching around him. The Padres offense need to be on top of their game.
BEAT L.A.! BEAT L.A.! BEAT L.A.!
GO PADRES!

Quote from Randy Manese on October 3, 2024, 9:10 pmI'm surprised they flipped Yamamoto and Flaherty. Maybe they think they Padres will be too overconfident because of previous success against Yamamoto and flail away harmlessly. I think it will be just the opposite - they will be aggressive because Yamamoto is tough when he gets ahead in the count. We only need a split in LA to be in a good position and I see this happening by winning Game 1. We then come home and sweep the Dodgers at PETCO just like that last 2 game series on 30-31 July for the NLDS series win. GO PADRES!

MLBTR just reported that it is TJ surgery, will be out for all of 2025 season as well.
Personally after the way he pitched in AZ the last series, with AZ's playoff hopes on the line, I would think about Vasquez.

Quote from Jeremy Hill on October 4, 2024, 3:44 pmPerez's last start was rough. I still expect it will be him in game 4. If they're trailing maybe they adjust by pushing guys up. I would also consider dropping Ahmed for another bullpen arm. Reynolds could be a good option.

I agree, Perez to the active roster to replace Musgrove and Ahmed no longer active, I agree, probably Reynolds active. Go Pads! Beat LA!

Quote from ultratvfan on October 5, 2024, 12:23 pmGlad to see Jacob back and Perez has been solid a lot more often than Waldron or Vasquez. Perez has given up 2 runs or leas in 7 of his 10 starts with the Padres that includes pitching one shutout game against the Tigers.

Quote from Jeremy Hill on October 5, 2024, 5:56 pmNice start for the boys. I wish MLB would take a page out of other league's books and do simulcast with the local broadcast teams. I'm sick of this crew already. They can't even get out of the first ining without making excuses for the Dodgers.
