MLB Unveils 120 team minor league realignment

El Paso, San Antonio, Fort Wayne, and Lake Elsinore. These will remain the same for the Padres.

Allowed to have clubs (plural) in Spring Training sites. I wonder if the Padres have enough players for two short season teams in Peoria?

Think they currently have over 50 players that could reside in AZ Rookie ball after the four full season teams are finalized.

Given the flexibility of AZ players appearing on either of the Padres’ AZ teams ... should be easy to  run two clubs ... no real travel limitations. Plus this is the AZ rookie league so not a big issue if a game has to get cancelled due to a player availabity.

I thought I read where the International players that we just signed might be able to play in the minors this year. Do you know if that's true?

That is my understanding but most (if not all) should be in the DSL .... at least to start the year.

Guessing that with the demise of the SS NWL and the lack of a 2020 .... AZ will have a number of players that might have only moved up from AZ to the NWL or may have been released ... now “repeat” AZ. So, potentially a crowd.

Did hear some discussion of the potential in years ahead of it being “normal” for players to spend multiple seasons in the AZL ... especially if they are signed / drafted young and need the development time to compete in low A against older college types.
