MLB Draft July 9-11

Page 1 of 11Next

With a month to go, it's time to start discussing MLB draft 2023..

Latest Mocks have us taking the top LHP in this draft in HS LHP White

Thomas White

White touches 97mph in HS.. love it..

In their previous mock they had the Padres taking a HS LHH CF … great speed and defense with plus hitting projection.

In the recent iteration’s write-up they indicated the LHP and the CF were the two names that were most often linked to the Padres. Of course, they have to fall all the way down to the Padres.

Yeah they mentioned him too.. he went to NYY with the next pick in the mock I saw. NYY also like White.. so depending on direction and availability Whiteband the CF could go back to back in either order with SDP and NYY

This is an extremely deep draft

Seems weird that the top rated LH Starter in the draft would be available at #25?

Doesn't it?

As a Gator fan I can't wait to see who gets lucky enough to draft Jac Caglianone in 24'.

This kid is like Ohtani.

As a LH "Sophomore" Starter he throws 99 and is leading the world in HR's with 31 in 63 games.

Needs some polish on a couple pitches but man can he throw and hit hard ......but that's a story for another year.

Yeh, just an off year for LHP I guess. As it is White is HS from the NE (MASS) which is not a hotbed of showcasing prospects due to the limited season (weather) ... so in a sense even at #25 he is a lot of projection and arguable a lot of upside potential as he gets to work in more favorable weather.

What happened to that the FLA - TEX - CA LH arms? Looking at MLBPipeline's Top 200 White was listed as #23 then a long way before hitting another LHP ... so not even close.

#40 Johnson ... HS ... IMG (FLA)

#46 Whitman ... C ... Kent State (not a mid-major in Ohio, sort of another colder climate upside)

#50 Clemmey ... HS ... Rhode Island ... another cold climate kid

Should note that their list has a number of RHP but a surprisingly (to me) a lot of hitters (and HS hitters) going earlier.

Bummer our 2nd pick isn't until #98
