Mighty 1090 in Full Shutdown

Page 1 of 2Next

Sadly the Mighty 1090 AM .... former home of the Padres and the Aztecs ... has now stopped in streaming feed which was kept alive for only a couple of weeks since the station went off the airwaves.

Sad for all the employees and their families. Station over the years produced a lot of good sports talk.

Will especially miss D.Smith, M. Caswell, and J.Caruth who provided a quality program and in the past put on one of the best Padre pre-game shows I can recall.

Hope they all land on their feet.

I am really sad about the shutdown. I live in Michigan and found out that I could stream 1090 when we got an Alexa last fall. I know not everyone loved them but is was really great to hear Padres talk since I get none around here. I can listen to 1360 but it will take some getting used to. I was warming up to the Smith Caswell and Caruth show.

Might want to try streaming 97.3 THE FAN in San Diego (I do it on Alexa) ... it is the flagship station for the Padres and has two shows that will give some Padre talk plus interviews with the front office, the manager, and players.

John Kentera: 5 - 9 AM Pacific Time (long time SD sports guy)

Tony Gwynn, Jr. and Chris Ellos: 3 - 7 PM Pacific Time plus they do a pre-game show until the streaming cuts out (can't stream the games per MLB).

=====

Would not be surprised if a 1090 personality (or two) ended up with 97.3 at some point ... Kentera is a veteran who is likely a fill (they bumped Sileo off the air a week or so ago) until the get a permanent replacement. Also, in the 9-noon slot and the noon to 3 slot the have national feeds that could be bumped for local programming.

Would like the D. Smith gang to show up in their old time slot for 93.7.

Aside: not a fan of 1360 AM's personalities.

Thanks Fenn I will  try  to find 97.3 on Alexa and give  it a try

That is very sad, I can say that a big part of the fact that I speak english is because of 1090 am, from 2004 to 2011 I used to listen it from Monday to Friday from 12pm until the post game show was over, sometimes that was right around midnight, and of course I became the huge Padres fan I am now because of it, that deal with 97.3fm looks worse every day, at least in my perspective

Darren Marty  and Jordan  are back on 1060 extra . I'm  happy because I have missed them. Living in Michigan  my choices of San Diego sports talk is very  limited. I had only found  them about a month before the mighty 1090 went belly up. Welcome back Darren  and gang
