Michael King is the best pitcher in California, not named Shohei Ohtani- agree or disagree?

Snell is AWESOME...but only when HE wants to be.

Yomimoto is equally as excellent but can't beat us!

Who else you got? Giants? A's? Angels? Anyone worthy of top billing?

I'd only rate Ohtani and Yamamoto slightly higher than King.  There are some other good ones in CA, Logan Webb and Landen Roupp in SF, plus Jose Soriano in Anahiem, but I would take King over each of those other guys, for sure.

Hitting aside, the 3 catchers the Padres have employed have been very good.  The major league caught stealing % is around 29% and all 3 have bettered that mark (Campy at 38.5, Fermin at 33.3 and Duran at 30) plus they have no Passed Balls among the 3 of them!  Caught stealing is somewhat of a wonky number since the effectiveness of the pitchers holding the runners and the pitchers delivery to the plate all figure into these numbers, however, still have to be satisfied if not impressed.  Also, it seems all Padres pitchers have praised the work of all 3 Padres catchers so they have to be doing something right!

Duran likely will be sent down when Campy gets off the IL but it's good to know we have a solid defensive back-up who has occasional pop in his bat; by the way, Hunt is on a rehab assignment and we'll see how he fares as a potential back-up.  Lurking behind all this is ETHAN SALAS!  Let's hope he continues to pound Texas League pitching and gets promoted sometime during the summer to El Paso.

Does Fermin have any options?

Should Duran continue his defensive work, and heats up at the plate, I'd happily send Freddy down.

Yep, Fermin has two option years remaining.

Actually both Duran and Fermin are plus defensive catchers ... and Fermin has a the ML success ... so on paper advantage to Fermin.

Fermin is having a terrible start to 2026 but his career 255/304/263 for a plus defensive catcher is good. Long shot Duran hits in the ML given his MiL stats are less than Fermin's ML stats.

Probably a better chance Fermin starts hitting than Duran developing into a ML hitter. Still some time apparently until Campusano is ready to return so who knows. However, have to expect Duran to really get hot to push the Padres to option Fermin.

Why did Song cut off Tatis's throw? Was it offline? I couldn't really tell from the replay.

Booster, you must be dying seeing our closer in with a tied game 🤣

Never seems to end well does it?

Ooh, one more thing: Millers pick off throw, bad throw or bad catch? Again, didn't see.

Should have been caught IMO.

Error should be Frances’
