Joe Musgrove is ahead of schedule and may return for the post season. But, it may be in a BP role.
I eagerly await to see if he does return during the playoffs.

That be so cool if Musgrove is added to the playoff roster!
It would not only be a great testament to his work ethic, but it would give his teammates a boost to see the SD kid putting it all on the line for his hometown and hometeam.

Depending on Cease and King the next two weeks it might be wise to do a Bullpen game in the playoffs if we could piggyback Musgrove & Hart.
If they could each give us 3 innings and keep us in the game to get to the high leverage guys that might be better than trusting a couple of the struggling Starters.

Hart has actually looked good in that left handed long guy role.
At this stage, he's out-pitching Matsui.

Everything is different in the playoffs....esp. if you're in a "win or go home" situation.
A Bullpen game sometimes,esp with our Bullpen,may be the way to go.
Getting ahead of ourselves some but it may be an option

I don't expect a bullpen game that will burn the pen for use in the following games ... especially if the starters are not going 6-7 innings before that.
More likely they will pull the SP quickly (especially someone like Cease or Vasquez) and use the pen that way. First sign of struggling ... they are out the pen is in.
I am not counting on Musgrove (and maybe don't even want to see him) ... any pitcher who has not been in real games for a year and a half cannot be expected to be his old effective self ... usually command is a problem. Playoffs is not where you want to gamble in my mind.
It could be interesting to see which pitchers they activate for a 3 game set ... two of the current starters to the pen (as early long options) or not activated in lieu of a more experienced short RP?
