I have mixed feelings about AJ. I would say my overall impression of him is positive. Love him or hate him there is no denying he's one of the hardest working executives in the game. You also can't deny his eye for talent. He's both built a consistent contender and sent out what might be another playoff team if they all played together. Outside of 98 when I was still a kid I don't think there has been a better time to be a Padres fan. AJ is a big part of that.

Some will say he trades prospects way too often but a prospect is just that...a prospect,and his worth is most of the time the highest while he's still in the Minors.

We are in win now mode...saving guys that "might" help in three years doesn't do us much good at the Major League level.

I was thinking the wholesale trades of prospects was going to slow down now that the team is almost entirely built....but he did it again at the deadline.

BUT,he got the right guys.

Look at the Mets...the guys they traded for made them worse....not better.

I hated trading James Wood....and Abrams(even though he was blocked at the time),but understood and agreed with "going for it".

I also hated trading DeVries....but a lot can happen in the 3 years before he's a major league regular and Mason Miller could end up a Hall of Fame pitcher for us.

But,I also trust AJ to restock the system in 2 years as he has already done three times and as he does better than anyone else.

Bottom line,if we win a WS in the next three seasons EVERY trade he made will have been worth it.
