The Padres are coming off a heart breaking series loss to the Cubs. They will have Thursday off to rest without having to travel while they wait to play the White Sox. Murakami is tied with Judge for the lead for HRs in MLB with 12. That is twice as many as Ohtani. Despite Murakami and the White Sox having just swept the Angels, I don't believe they will be as tough as the Cubs. But, they will not be a walk through the park.

Marquez was solid 5 of the 6 IP against the Dbacks. King was outstanding against the Dbacks, but did not get the win due to the BP exploding. Vasquez has been really good this season despite a rocky 4th inning against the Cubs. I like that the Padres have Vasquez and King in the series giving them a real chances of a sweep.

NL West Matchups
Dodgers(20-11) at Cardinals(18-13)
Dbacks(16-14) at Cubs(19-12)
Giants(13-18) at Rays(18-12)
Rockies(14-18) host Braves(22-10)

Let's shake off the Cubs series loss and watch the Padres put up wins against the south siders.

Looks like Matsui will be back tonight. Morgan was optioned yesterday.

I just saw that it was actually Estrada who was activated. That's a pleasant surprise. I thought he would need a little more time.

Morgan was optioned to Triple A.

Padres lost giving them their longest losing streak this season at 3. The Dodgers also lost 3 in a row. The Padres still only a 1/2 game back. The need to take advantage of the Dodgers losses.

Marquez was terrible. He needs to go. The offense could not get anything going even though they scored 2 runs late in the game.

Tatis was the only Padre to have multiple hits going 3 for 3.

King on the mound in game 2.

GO PADRES!

Marquez seems to have 1 bad inning that sinks a lot of his starts. The team as a whole seems to be allowing a lot of runs after defensive mistakes lately. Last night it was Tatis with the throw way up the line going to the plate.

I read that Canning agreed to extend his rehab assignment to make 1 more start in the minors. Giolito got up to 70 pitches in his last start. He may not need the full window they agreed on to get ready. 2 out of the 3 of Waldron, Marquez and Buehler should be out of the rotation in short order. It could be happening just in time. It was going to be hard to sustain the early success they've had with all 3 of them struggling.

Game 2 Lineup

1. Laureano LF

2. Tatis RF

3. Merrill CF

4. Machado 3B

5. Bogaerts SS

6. Sheets 1B

7. Andujar DH

8. Campusano C

9. Cronenworth 2B

King P

What is wrong with this team. Did they forget how to produce. The Dodgers drop their 4th straight game and so did the Padres.

When the Padres win, the Dodgers win. When the Dodgers lose the Padres lose. The Padres can't capitalize on the Dodgers losses. It seems like the same old song year after year.

Let's hope they win tomorrow.

I wonder when will there be another Padres team like the 1998 one, this might be more talented, but those dudes back then played every game at 100%, all year long, maybe after they clinched, they pumped the brakes a little bit, but other than that, we haven't seen anything like them.
