13-3
Monday, April 14 - 6:40pm. TV: San Diego Cox 83
RHP Jameson Taillon(1-1, 6.06 ERA, 14 K, .273 BAA) vs RHP Dylan Cease(1-1, 7.98 ERA, 18 K, .283 BAA)Tuesday, April 15 - 6:40pm. TV: San Diego Cox 83
LHP Shota Imanaga(2-1, 2.70 ERA, 14 K, .169 BAA) vs RHP Randy Vásquez(1-1, 1.72 ERA, 6 K, .143 BAA)Wednesday, April 16 - 1:10pm. TV: San Diego Cox 83
LHP Matthew Boyd(1-1, 1.59 ERA, 17 K, .213 BAA) vs RHP Nick Pivetta(2-1, 1.59 ERA, 18 K, .164 BAA)The Padres are riding high sweeping and shutting out the Rockies, completing their 3rd sweep of the season, pitching their 6th shutout of the season, remaining undefeated at home with a 10-0 record, 10 games above .500 and bringing their record to 13-3. Now they will once again face the tough Cubs, who rocked the Padres pitching last series. That was at Wriggly field. Now, they will face them at Petco Park as well as face lefties Imanaga and Boyd and they have a hard time hitting lefties.
If the Padres win the first game of this series they will tie the franchise record in wins/losses in the first 17 games of the season. The 1998 Padres went 14-3 in their first 17 games and they went to the World Series.
The Giants(11-4) head to Philadelphia to battle the Phillies(9-6), the Dodgers(11-6) host the Rockies(3-12), and the Dbacks(9-7) head to Miami to face the Marlins(8-7).
This will be a tough series and Padres pitching need to be on top of their game.
GO PADRES!

Not sure who (and for how long) will be in CF ... likely Wade for now vs RHP.

Quote from WindsorUK on April 15, 2025, 2:36 amMusgrove out for the year, Darvish on IR, and Cease our worst SP.....that is NOT a recipe for a 14-3 start. Yet here we are!
Preller and co. have built an amazing roster and Schildt and his coaching staff are making them believe.
Long may it last. Damn this is fun!

Quote from brent wolff on April 15, 2025, 6:37 amTati now has the 2nd most HRs in Petco Park history with 67. His 2 bombs last night lifted him past a tie with Adrian Gonzalez, who had 65 Petco Park HRs. Manny is the all-time leader with 91 HRs at Petco. The start to this season has been a blast, especially at Petco. Let's keep it rolling, Go Pads!

Quote from Randy Manese on April 15, 2025, 11:09 amI was ready to concede today's game to the Cubs, especially after they went ahead 3-1 early yesterday, but now I'm not so sure that we can't turn it around against a tough lefty and possibly sweep the series! This team keeps surprising me with their resilience and unexpected performances so far from Vasquez. Cubs still are a very powerful team that hopefully is just getting plain tired being on the road so much early in the year. Got my fingers crossed for tonight's game and significant contributions from the supporting cast - that's usually how we win. GO PADRES!

I actually not that surprised. Probably dont remember; however, during the offseason I mentioned a couple of times how his last start of last season in AZ really showed me something. Shut down a good offensive team, in a hitters park, with their season on the line.
Glad that so far, it has carried into this season.
