The Padres are coming off a disappointing series losing 2 of 3 to the Twins and drop back to two games back as the Dodgers won. They begin the final month of the 2025 regular season with a 3-game homestand against the Orioles, former team of O'Hearn and Laureano.

They won 2 of 3 over the Orioles the last two seasons and have played better at home(43-23) this season than on the road (33-39). For the Padres to finish with 93 wins like last season, they will have to go 17-9. The Padres pitchers have pitched better at home than on the road.

While the Padres are at home playing the Orioles, the Dodgers will be on the road playing the Pirates facing tough pitchers Paul Skenes and Braxton Ashcraft in Pittsburg.

It has been said that the Dodgers and Padres have the easiest schedule in the final month and that the Padres have the easier schedule.
• The Padres play 16 of their final 25 games at home, where they played much better than on the road, whereas the Dodgers play 15 of their final 25 games on the road, where they have not played as well than at home.
• The Padres play 3 series against the two worst teams in MLB--Rockies twice and White Sox. The Dodgers only one series--Rockies.
• The Padres play 3 above .500 teams---Reds, Mets, and Brewers. They swept the Mets back in June and won 2 of 3 from the Brewers back in June in Milwaukee. The Dodgers play two: Phillies and Mariners, both very tough teams. All are in contention for a playoff spot.
• The Padres play the tough Brewers the second to last series at home whereas the Brewers will likely have won the NL Central title and might rest some players. The Dodgers last series is with the tough Mariners and the Big Dumper in Seattle and the Mariners will likely still be battling for the AL West title or wild card spot.

Here is the final month schedule for the Padres and Dodgers:

Padres
vs Orioles: Sept 1-3
at Rockies: Sept 5-7
vs Reds: Sept 8-10
vs Rockies: Sept 11-14

GO PADRES!

Despite the bad showing in SEA and MIN, the Padres are only 2 games back in the division to start September.

I think if you ask anyone at the beginning of the season, the division would have been pretty much wrapped up by now. So, for the Pads to only be 2 games out and firmly in position of a WC spot, I think we should be very happy and excited about Padres baseball!

And the pressure is on the dodgers.

Very little pressure on us….hopefully that’s a good thing

Merrill was activated, but is not in the starting lineup. Reynolds was added to the bullpen.

Game 1 Lineup
1. Tatis RF
2. Arraez DH
3. Machado 3B
4. O'Hearn 1B
5. Laureano CF
6. Sheets LF
7. Cronenworth 2B
8. Iglesias SS
9. Fermin C

Cease P

It still amazes me how quick Cease loses it right after he starts pitching from the stretch.

Dollars to donuts that Adam is out for the season. Knee ligament for sure.

The Padres lost 6 of the last 8 games and are 2.5 games back of the Dodgers.

Cease did not look good again. But, he did give up only 2 runs in 4 IP. I hope Adam is OK and not out for the season. Losing Bergert really hurt.

The offense was hot after the trade deadline but lately can't get anything going. They had opportunities, but could not get it done.

The Padres need to take the neext two games.

GO PADRES!

From what I saw/heard, there is no way Adam pitches again this year, I guess that is what happens when your starters burn your BP up, we don't have a SP that has pitched into the 6th in 6 games, reason, Cease is a nutcase, Darvish is old, Cortés is a joke, Sears and Hart are AAA pitchers at best, Vazquez can't pitch anyone for a third time, by the way, It Is very likely that King has lost dozens of millions of dollars in FA because of his injury.

Jason Adam ruptured his quadricep tendon and will be out 6-9 months. He hopes to be back by spring training next year. Losing him was a big blow.

AJP always trades too much and should not have traded Bergert.
