29-20
Friday, May 22 - 6:40pm
LHP Jeffrey Springs(3-4, 3.93 ERA, 47 K, .239 BAA) vs RHP Walker Buehler(3-2, 5.01 ERA, 37 K, .256 BAA)Saturday, May 23 - 6:40pm
RHP J.T. Ginn(2-1, 2.98 ERA, 44 K, .209 BAA) vs RHP Lucas Geolito(1-0, 5.40 ERA, 3 K, .063 BAA)Sunday, May 24- 1:10pm
LHP Jacob Lopez(3-2, 6.14 ERA, 32 K, .278 BAA) vs RHP Michael King(4-2, 2.31 ERA, 59 K, .191 BAA)The Padres are coming off a tough, but, disappointing series that pushed them back to a mere 1.5 games behind the Dodgers. But, they can retake the lead this weekend with the Dodgers playing the tough Brewers in Milwaukee, who will not be facing Ohtani, while the Padres will be playing the A's, who lost 2 of 3 last season in Sacramento.
But, beware, The A's are better now than last season and have scored 221 runs, which is more than the 200 runs that the Padres scored. But the A's have allowed 226 runs, which is more than the 197 runs the Padres have allowed. Mason Miller will be facing his former team for the first time since being traded last season.
Buehler has given up only 2 runs in each of his last two starts. He will be battling for his spot in the rotation when Pivetta and Musgrove return.
Giolito is coming of a solid season debut allowing only 1 hit in 5 scoreless innings before walking 3 batters in the 6th that came into score with the reliever on the mound. Let's hope his 2nd start is better.
King has been phenomenal. He is coming off his best start of the season shutting out the Dodgers in 7 IP. Only twice in 10 starts this season he has given up nore than two runs and has pitched 3 shutout games.
This offense is anemic and has gotten to the point that Machado, Tatis, Merrill and Fermin are near automatic outs. I would like to see Duran catch in this series.

Who loses out when Jake is healthy? Obviously Song gets optioned but I'm leaving Jake on the bench, let him be our super sub.
