Clearly he walks too many batters ... but he does seem unhittable ... diamond in the rough!

Fireballing 19-year-old Andres Muñoz worked a scoreless ninth for his fourth save in as many chances. After getting a late start to his season because of arm soreness, the Sinaloa, Mexico, native has not allowed a run in 13.1 innings of work, allowed a .095 opponents average, and struck out 15 in 13.1 innings of work.

Given Munoz' prospect status rise ... and in AA .... can we expect it to be easier for Preller to deal Stammen (1 year control) and/or Yates (2 years control) who are both in their 30s.
Set up the bullpen pen for the foreseeable future with Munoz - Wingenter - Stock - Maton on the RH side with a couple of failed SP to fill out the RH side. Castillo and maybe Strahm (if not a starter) and Erlin (if not a starter) handling the LH side.

- A year from now, the Padre bullpen will have more power arms than any team in baseball. Am I wrong?
Kyle Glaser: One year might be a little strong. Dairus Valdez and Gerardo Reyes still have some command things to figure out and I don't expect them to be solved in one year. But in 2020, if you have those two and Wingenter with Munoz healthy as well, they'll certainly be close to the top of that list of most power relief arms

Kyle Glaser: He's got an incredible arm that you can't help but be wowed at. He's also going to have to throw more than 26 innings in a season before the Padres can reasonably count on him. The injury red flags are huge.

Appreciated this note from today's Farm Report ...
Reliever Andres Muñoz struck out the side in the sixth, allowing one walk. He hit 102 on the radar gun for the second time this season. The 20-year-old has struck out ten in five innings but also has allowed eight walks.

Andres Munoz, RHP, Padres' No. 24 (Double-A Amarillo)
One of the hardest throwers in the Minors, the 20-year-old right-hander sits in the upper 90s heat and consistently reaches triple digits with a fastball that has explosive late life. His hard slider in the upper 80s gives Munoz a second dynamic offering that has room for more improvement. He still has gains to make as a strike-thrower, but the pure stuff alone could soon have him in the big leagues.

Not many pitchers can get away with 40 control. Andres Muñoz is one who can.
