Keeping in mind that we are talking about the #5 SP (standard is relatively low) who should be considered OK if the team wins 40-50% of their starts … always want better.

Waldron seems to be near that threshold (although either really on or really off which can be frustrating). Vasquez does not seem to be taking hold in his chance. Padres don’t seem interested in pushing Brito into that role. Would not be surprised to see them try to slide Morejon in as they lengthen his appearances but given his limited work over the past years not likely would be relied on in a stretch run. Door wide open for Mazur.

Maybe that just shows the confidence the Padres have in how Mazur has already developed and the next step is putting him in an unfavorable environment to see if he survives.
