With the Fourth of July holiday falling on Monday, the Chihuahuas, TinCaps and Storm had the nights off.

 Key Statistics: CF Thomas Milone 2-4, 2B, RBI; 3B Connor Hollis 1-3, BB; RHP Brandon Komar, (L, 0-3) 5.0 IP, 10 H, 8 R, 2 BB, 2 K; RHP Jose Quezada 2.0 IP, H, K

Prospect Watch: The Missions dropped their fourth straight in an ugly loss at home as they have been outscored 21-1 in the past two games after clinching a first-half playoff spot earlier in the month. Although the promotion of Esteury Ruiz will take some thump out of the offense, the promotion of starting pitchers Thomas Eshelman and Matt Waldron to Triple-A El Paso, who were first and third in innings pitched, is going to affect the team’s ability to compete. … Connor Hollis, 27, continues to have a stellar year after a rough April where he slashed .210/.319/.323. In his last three months, he is hitting .304/.409/.435 and has been quite the minor league free agent pick-up from the Tampa Bay organization. He leads the team in hits (79) and is second in runs scored (48).

Prospect Watch: The big news was that someone got a home run off 6-foot-6, 225 lbs. 18-year-old Jarlin Susana. It was his first time pitching in relief. However, on the backfields of the Arizona Complex League, that is a somewhat dubious distinction compared to his previous four outings when he started. If you throw out this appearance, he has a 1.84 ERA in 14.2 innings with 19 strikeouts against five walks and eight hits in his first outings. Because he is relatively “older” than the rest of his teammates, there is a good chance he may be in Low-A Lake Elsinore before the end of the year. … Ruben Salinas reached base twice today to push his slash line to .271/.323/.441. The 19-year-old Mexican native is a very rare position player that throws left-handed but bats from the right side. … Matt Beaty made his second appearance after returning from a troubling shoulder injury and reached base on a walk.
