The first full week of the minor league season was a busy one for the MadFriars crew. In addition to our daily system round-ups, we began our first wave of subscriber-only player profiles and interviews and had on-site coverage from all four affiliates.

We are especially thankful to our subscribers, who make it possible to travel the system to provide news and insights across the organization. (You can join them in just a couple of clicks!)

Player profiles and interviews:

Big righty Mason Thompson returned to Fort Wayne fully healthy this year. He’s one of the more popular picks to click in the system this year.

Outfielder Rod Boykin talked with us about how he turned the corner in Lake Elsinore last year.

On-Site Coverage:

El Paso:

Friday night was ugly at the plate, so Rod Barajas talked with John Conniff about the team’s need to improve their approach.

On Saturday, Chihuahuas hitters put that better approach to work in a wild comeback.

By Sunday, the offense was on fire, but the real story was Eric Lauer’s stellar performance

San Antonio:

Marcus Pond was on-hand Saturday as the Missions staged their own impressive comeback win.

Jesse Scholtens was on top of his game again Sunday, but the Missions fell.

Lake Elsinore (See if you can pick up the trend on the storylines for the Storm this year):

Kevin Charity reported on Reggie Lawson’s  impressive outing as the Storm won their home opener Thursday.

David Jay reported on Adrian Morejon’s promising outing as the Storm lost game two at the diamond.

Ben Davey reported on Pedro Avila’s  dominant outing as the Storm blew out the JetHawks in game three.
