After a stellar June, Reggie Lawson has had a rough month. The RockHounds chased him in the second inning with three earned runs already in and the bases loaded Sunday. Lawson has been tagged for nine earned runs in just 6.1 inning across his last three starts. The righty, who turns 25 this week, has had an up-and-down campaign coming back from elbow and shoulder injuries. Overall, he sports a 5.34 ERA with 50 strikeouts in 62.2 innings. After surrendering a pair of homers Sunday, he’s at 11 in just 60.2 innings.

Right-hander Reggie Lawson (4-6, 5.63 ERA), the 71st overall pick in 2016, has retired after an up-and-down season at Double-A San Antonio.
Lawson, 25, missed all of 2020 to Tommy John surgery and struggled with shoulder soreness upon his return last year, leading the Padres to remove him from the 40-man roster. He’d struck out 55 against 50 walks in 62 1/3 innings in a third straight season in the Double-A Texas League.
