Padres at Giants (One game Giants at Padres)

Don't know how important would it be to end the reg season on a high note, but with the offense slumping and the probably lost of Clevinger for the remainder of the year, I don't feel as confident as a week ago, not even for first round of the playoffs, that being said, after 14 years, my aproach will be the one of a person who appreciates watching his team playing postseason games.

It was great to at least get some "good Padres" comeback swagger with Grisham's walk off! I like that they clinched the #4 seed & Home field with a win (vs. "backing in" by Cards losing) after a ROUGH week here...
So weird to walk off at San Fran, wearing the visitor's Unis.... not likely to happen again!

Some good signs yesterday from some of the hitters - got the ball to the OF with some good hard contact instead of grounding into DPs and weak contact to the pitcher. Hosmer, Tatis and Grisham in particular looked a lot better. Like to see a little more from Manny, Wil and Cro.
Pomeranz gave up the big bomb but it was coming - he just hasn't been as sharp in his last 2-3 outings, having to throw more than 20-25 pitches to get out of one inning. I'm hoping this was it and he's back in the groove for the playoffs because Paddack definitely isn't. When he had difficulty keeping the ball down early on, it was just a matter of time until he got hit hard. With only a fully healthy Davies, we'll need some strong performances from the long men to keep us in it. No matter what, our offense has to carry us given the circumstances.

Pom... almost made it to the finish line with that 0.00. I 'd rather have it happen now obviously & "get it out of the way".
Probably want to keep getting Hosmer & Pham AB's. But they'll probably play it safe with Myers here with nothing to gain by playing him. Maybe start him the last game & pull him early? I see Mateo starting in meaningless game to try to knock some rust off.

Wonder this says about Samzadzija .... SF released him today after yesterday’s start. Would be a FA after the season and an injury plagued season but only 2 games left and, maybe the playoffs, for SF. Can’t go to another team for the playoffs.
Even if SF was not going to activate him for a potential wild card round ... would think SF would just want him to be around for the team cohesion and as a long term vet.
Maybe a family issue with him, maybe ???

"Normal" full strength lineup except Profar in RF for Myers. Tingler going full bore with Davies pitching today; SF in driver's seat for last playoff spot, but not going to hand it to them.

Bullpen day today with 6 pitchers who did not pitch yesterday.
One interesting note: Grisham gets his first off day of the season and Profar is in CF for the first time in his career.

Who's pitching for the Giants, Nolan Ryan?
Must tidy up the plate discipline going into the playoffs otherwise we're talking 2 and out.

Ump is in a hurry to end the season .... BIG strike zone. Hitters likely in a hurry to get back to SD .... swing baby swing!
