I believe I found information on Pads top signee for January, 2026: Cuban SS Joniel Hernandez (sign for $1.5 Mil).

Don't see his height/weight posted but he appears very lanky, maybe 6:01, 140. Looks to have good speed and some good barrel characteristics in his swing. Padres didn't spend all their 2024 money because they were trying to sign Sasaki, so unless he's too young before the 2026 signing date (or they ran out of money) he could sign with the 2025 class.

Sportrac has the Padres with $2.6MM unspent in 2025 from their allocation ... but is not old enough to sign in 2025 ... he just turned 16 on March 6th (3/6/2009) and the rule is
"In Major League Baseball (MLB), international free agents must be at least 16 years old to be eligible to sign with a team. Additionally, they must turn 17 by September 1st of the year they are signing."

Wonder if any good international FA are still unsigned? Probably not.
Waiting for Sasaki messed up the international signings for the Padres but, maybe, if the full $6+MM was in the 2025 budget the unspent allocation could have helped the Padres justify going over the luxury tax for the ML roster?
Budget just transfers over.

Turns out Pads are not going to sign the new Jarlin Susana as planned. He got caught fudging this age and Pads have cancelled their $900K offer.

Pads just sign Taiwanese 18 yr old RHP Su Lan-Hong for $750,0000 for this year’s allotment. He has reached 94 mph. Pads still have $2.1 Mil for 2025 class available.

Sergio, thanks for getting us Padres fans advance notice of what's happening on the international front before any other source reports it! I just hope they find a player worthy to spend the remaining 2.1 M on before the December deadline. I'm pretty sure it's a use of lose ceiling of money to spend that doesn't carry over to the next international signing period.

Yep use it or lose it.
At this stage expect it may be hard to find a worthy prospect out of Latin America given the age restrictions. Kids has to be at least 16 and then turn 17 by Sep 1 next year. Possible but are to imagine one still around Maybe an "older" type from Cuba? That may suggest a focus on Japan/Taiwan/China HS types ... even if some overpay.
Bet they try to get a few more prospects in.
