Add that Maton and Rea are current rehabbing in SA.
Should lead to some interesting roster moves in the next 2-3 weeks with maybe 7 coming off the DL lists.
Watch out for the ripple effect of Cordoba and Rea .... both on the 60 day DL (excluded from the 40 man) but when their rehabs end need to be added back (or DFA but not likely). In their cases, Padres will have make two offsetting 40 man roster moves. Clearly a lot of choices.
The others COULD be accommodated with various players still having minor league options .... using that strategy to hold on some until the trade deadline either dealing them or preserving them to fill back in if someone else is moved.
Add the congestion that may be formed with the desire to promote a level some of the more productive prospects in the next couple of weeks as the minor league seasons hit half time.

One reminder on Rea that the good folks down with the Missions pointed out to us: While a rehab assignment can only last 30 days, for guys coming back from TJS, that can be extended up to an additional 30 days (in 10 day increments) with consent of MLB offices. Given the lengthy delay in getting back to pitching for Colin, and the rough go out of the gate, that may be a consideration for him.

I sure hope he can stay healthy this time around. It'd be nice to have another stable bat in the lineup.

Third-rounder Grant Little sat for the second straight game with a minor hand injury. It’s not uncommon for guys to get jammed and experience some hand pain as they make the adjustment back to wood bats.
