Prospect Watch: After losing two of three over the weekend, El Paso headed up to Tacoma to start a six-game set. El Paso jumped out to a 4-0 lead and hung on to even up their record at 2-2. … Rodolfo Durán had a pair of hits, including his first homer of 2026. His blast snuck out down the left field line against former Minnesota Twin Randy Dobnak. He also added an RBI single in the fourth. The 28-year-old is in his second season as a Padres farmhand after signing a minor league deal prior to the 2025 season. With Blake Hunt on the IL, he represents the Padres’ top depth option at the Triple-A level. In 86 games last year in El Paso, the Santo Domingo native delivered an .843 OPS. … Mason McCoy celebrated his 31st birthday with a three-hit game. He also added a stolen base. The veteran infielder occupies a spot on the 40-man roster mainly because of the defense he is capable of providing. As of now, he is the top middle-infield depth option for the Padres. While he hasn’t produced much offense in his limited time in the big leagues, he chipped in with an .804 OPS and 11 homers last season with the Chihuahuas. … Sung-Mun Song continued his rehab assignment on Tuesday, going 1-for-5 with a single, a strikeout, and an RBI groundout. The 29-year-old former KBO star has played in all four Chihuahuas games thus far. In 17 at-bats, he’s struck out six times and has an OPS of .513. He generated exit velocities of 99.9 and 105.8 mph, but both balls were on the ground. … With the Padres’ rotation looking shaky in the first week of the season, JP Sears delivered solid results to earn the win in his first start of the year. The former Athletics southpaw and top healthy depth option at the moment completed five innings, allowing two runs on five hits, walking one and striking out two. Sears averaged 93.1 mph with his fastball – a slight increase from what he averaged as a big leaguer last season. He generated five whiffs and got four outs in the air and four more on the ground. The 30-year-old will make his next start in El Paso, where the environment is not as forgiving as the chilly Pacific Northwest…. While the Padres stretched Logan Gillaspie out during spring training, he’s moved back to a relief role for El Paso. The 28-year-old righty bounced back from a rough first outing to strike out three over two one-run innings Tuesday. Gillaspie showed off his deep repertoire, using six different offerings across 23 total pitches.

Wednesday is the final day before the rest of the system gets underway. Thursday night, San Antonio opens their season in Tulsa, while Lake Elsinore takes on the newly-minted Ontario, California, Tower Buzzers. Friday night, Kash Mayfield will take the ball as the TinCaps head up the road to Great Lakes. All three christen the season with Dodgers affiliates.
