A month from today, all four San Diego Padres full-season minor league affiliates will be in regular season action as the 2025 season gets underway. With that deadline looming, all 145 domestic players not already in big-league camp officially took the field for the first time Thursday.

With the full start of minor league operations, the Padres moved the first group of 11 players of the year out of big league camp. That includes Leo De VriesEthan SalasBraden Nett, and Romeo Sanabria. Just six of the top 20 Padres prospects remain with the major league team, while the other 14 are now working on the back fields of the Peoria Sports Complex. Padres big league camp remains full with 61 players.

While the team has been aggressive in signing minor league free agents over the winter, most remain with the Major League camp as non-roster invitees. Just 11 players who were not in the Padres minor league system last year, including the three players they selected in the minor league phase of the Rule 5 draft, are currently on the spring minor league roster.

The Padres brought seven players who spent 2024 in the Dominican Summer League stateside for the first time, including catcher Yoiber Ocopio, pitchers Luis Maracara and Winyer Chourio, and outfielder Gustavo Marquez. None of the club’s 2025 international free agent signees are likely to be brought to Peoria before the start of Arizona Complex League contests in May.

Outfielders Cole Cummings and Nick Vogt both retired during the offseason. Ten additional players were released, including one-time prospect Gabe Morales and 2023 draftees Nik McLaughry and Zac Addkison.

The full 2025 Padres minor league roster is below. By rule, they will have to be down to 165 players who aren’t on the 60-day or full-season IL by the time the Double-A season begins for the Missions on April 4.
