Prospect Watch: El Paso scored eight runs in the third inning to cruise to a victory against the Rainiers at home. … Eguy Rosario had three hits, including a double in El Paso’s victory. After struggling mightily to start the month, the 25-year-old infielder has hit safely in six of his last seven, with three of those being multi-hit games. Overall, Rosario sports an excellent .902 OPS during his time with the Chihuahuas this season. … Elias Diaz made his organizational debut and had a double in four at-bats as the designated hitter. The former All-Star Game MVP signed with the Padres on Monday after the Rockies released him. The 33-year-old veteran was hitting .270/.315/.378 with 18 doubles and five homers with the Rockies this season. He has a career 78 rWC+ across nearly 2,500 big league plate appearances. … Right fielder Brandon Lockridge had four singles hitting out of the nine-hole. He also added a pair of stolen bases, giving him seven since joining the organization as part of the Enyel De Los Santos trade and 41 overall this year. In 21 games with El Paso, Lockridge is hitting .288/.394/.375. … The win went to Ethan Routzahn who took over after a shaky outing from Omar Cruz. Routzahn pitched 2.1 innings and allowed a pair of hits. He struck out four. The 26-year-old has enjoyed his finest professional season after starting the year in Fort Wayne. The former St. Johns righty has pitched in 40 games between Fort Wayne, San Antonio, and El Paso, delivering a solid 2.47 ERA between the three stops. He served as a closer with the Missions but finds himself throwing multiple innings for El Paso. Overall, opposing batters are hitting just .223 against him. While he’s only struck out 17.8% of batters, he has limited damage with an 8.1% walk rate and inducing weak grounders with his sinker. On Tuesday, only one ball was hit above 90 mph against the sidewinding righty.

Prospect Watch: The RockHounds scored three runs in the eighth inning for a comeback victory against the Missions. … Right fielder Robert Perez Jr. connected on his ninth homer of the year – a two-run shot – in the loss. The former Mariners farmhand has hit four home runs this month, resulting in a solid slash-line of .219/.367/.453. Strikeouts are still a major problem for the 24-year-old; he’s punched out 29 times in 79 plate appearances this month. … Joshua Mears singled and drew a walk in the Missions’ loss. The power-hitting outfielder has hit safely in four straight games after going hitless in his first game with the Missions. The swing-and-miss tendencies are still prevalent with Mears; he’s struck out 10 times in five Texas League games. However, he has also done damage with a pair of homers giving him an OPS above 1.000. … Righty Ryan Bergert turned in a solid start but did not factor in the decision. Bergert pitched into the sixth inning, recording two outs before being pulled. He allowed a pair of runs on two hits, walking three and striking out five. The 24-year-old out of West Virginia has pitched well in August after spending some time building back up in July after a month layoff. In five appearances this month, Bergert has a 2.92 ERA and 25 strikeouts in 24.2 innings. He is holding opposing batters to a .190 average this month.

Prospect Watch: The Storm scored six runs in the first inning to cruise to a win against Modesto. The team went 8-for-16 with runners in scoring position. … Kai Roberts did plenty of damage at the top of the order, delivering three hits, including his first professional homer. He added his seventh stolen base for good measure. The lanky former Utah outfielder has been a spark plug since joining Lake Elsinore. In 16 games since signing for a $10,000 bonus in the seventh round, the 23-year-old outfielder is hitting .319/.380/.464. … B.Y. Choi singled three times and drew a walk in six plate appearances. The 22-year-old enjoyed a solid season in the ACL before joining the Storm last month. In 17 Cal League games, the South Korea native is hitting .234/.364/.375 with four doubles, a triple, and a homer. … Braedon Karpathios had two more hits and added a walkand two RBI. The 21-year-old has feasted on Cal League pitching in August, putting together a stellar .359/.458/.590 line. On the year, his 115 wRC+ is good for eighth in the league, tied with injured teammate Leo De Vries. . … Rehabbing big leaguer Wandy Peralta recorded four outs and earned the victory for his efforts. He walked a batter and notched a strikeout. Peralta has appeared in two games for the Storm, as he works his way back into the picture for the Padres. He could be added to the active roster this weekend when it expands to 28.
Roster Moves: The Storm made five roster moves prior to Tuesday’s game. Right-handed pitcher Ian Koenig and left-hander Zack Qin were placed on the injured list, effectively ending their seasons. Koenig had a 5.44 ERA in 43 innings for the Storm this year. The former undrafted free agent underwent Tommy John surgery last year.
Qin, 19, pitched in seven innings this season for the Storm, allowing a pair of earned runs. He is a native of Nanjing, China.
Joining the Storm are 2024 fourth-round pick Tyson Neighbors and undrafted free agent Josh Mallitz, who attended the University of Mississippi. In addition, Spence Coffman was sent back to the complex league.
