Prospect Watch: El Paso put up a six-spot in the first inning and added five more in the ninth to beat Round Rock on the road. … Clay Dungan, who was promoted back to El Paso prior to the game Tuesday, enjoyed his return to the PCL. Dungan reached base five times, smacking two doubles and drawing three walks. He also stole a base for good measure. The 28-year-old now has a solid .932 OPS in 31 PCL games this year, but notched just a .648 mark in 34 games with San Antonio. Dungan has started playing the outfield on the fly after working as an infielder throughout his pro career. … Tirso Ornelas socked his ninth homer of the season and drove in five runs in the win Tuesday. The homer came off two-time All-Star Johnny Cueto, who made the start for Round Rock. The big fly raised Ornelas’ OPS to a solid .874. He’s on pace to top his career high of 15 home runs for the season. … Veteran outfielder Óscar Mercado didn’t leave the yard but he did have four hits – all singles – and drove in a pair of runs. The 29-year-old had a rough April but showed improvement in May before really turning things on this month. Mercado is hitting .317/.382/.583 in June with a sub-10% strikeout rate. While Bryce Johnson got the call from El Paso on Monday, Mercado still serves as an important depth piece with big-league experience. The Colombia native has appeared in the big leagues in each of the last five seasons. … After a rough start from Jackson Wolf, Lake Bachar recorded four outs to notch his fifth win of the season. Bachar struck out three of the four batters he faced. The 29-year-old has enjoyed a very good season in El Paso as he patiently awaits an opportunity to make his big league debut. In 26 games, Bachar has pitched to a 3.61 ERA while working 42.1 innings. While has walked 21 batters, he’s struck out 49 and has generally kept El Paso ahead when he has pitched.

Prospect Watch: The Missions used a three-homer attack to dispatch Midland at Wolff Stadium. … Brandon Valenzuela continued his torrid June with another big game. Valenzuela came up a triple short of the cycle as he connected on his seventh homer of the season. Valenzuela also drove in a season-high five RBI, just one off his career-high. The switch-hitting catcher is enjoying the finest month of his pro career, slashing an outstanding .333/.416/.591 with five homers. The 23-year-old has finished every season but one in with better than league-average offense while building a reputation as a strong game manager.  … Cole Cummings reached base four times, drawing two walks, and swatting a single in addition to connecting on his sixth homer of the year. The left fielder has been a steady presence in the middle of the order for the Missions this season, producing a .728 OPS and six homers. …  The Missions received another stellar outing from Jared Kollar, who earned his sixth win of the season. The former Rutgers hurler completed a season-high 6.1 innings and allowed just one run on one hit. He walked two and struck out six. The excellent outing comes on the heels of an outing in which Kollar allowed five runs while recording just two outs. After bouncing back so well, Kollar will finish June with a 3.80 ERA in five starts.

Dayton Dragons 8, TinCaps 4

Key Statistics: 1B Romeo Sanabria, 2-for-4, 2 2B; 3B Devin Ortiz, 2-for-4, R; DH Griffin Doersching, 1-for-4, 2B, 2 RBI; RHP Enmanuel Pinales (L, 1-6) 3.1 IP, 9 H, 6 ER, 3 BB, 3 K; RHP Keegan Collett, 2 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, BB, 3 K; RHP Joan Gonzalez, 2.1 IP, 2 H, 2 BB, K

Prospect Watch: The TinCaps fell behind 8-0 and ultimately lost their series opener at home against Dayton. … Romeo Sanabria had two doubles as part of a multi-hit game. The Miami native still holds the Cal League batting average lead, as he hit .311 during his time in Lake Elsinore. The left-handed hitting first baseman is off to a .400 (6-for-15) start with the TinCaps. The 22-year-old’s overall prospect profile is limited by being limited only to first base, but he’s shown power and the ability to make consistent contact with a simple swing that generates plenty of power. He is someone to watch in the second half. … Devin Ortiz singled twice and scored a run. The former Virginia infielder hit well in April and May but he’s struggled in June, hitting just .164/.260/.209 this month. Despite the slump, the 25-year-old has been a solid contributor with good defense at third base for the TinCaps. … Righty Enmanuel Pinales lasted just 3.1 innings and allowed six runs on nine hits to take the loss. He walked three and struck out three. Pinales has been one of the system’s bigger breakouts through the first half, but has had back-to-back rough outings, allowing 10 earned runs in 8.1 innings. Pinales’s ERA increased from 2.79 to 3.90 during the rough stretch.

Key Statistics: SS Leo De Vries, 1-for-3, HR (1), 2 RBI; Nick Vogt, 2-for-3, BB; RF Braedon Karpathios, 2-for-3, R, BB; LF Wyatt Hoffman, 1-for-3, BB, 2B, RBI; LHP Luis Gutierrez, 6 IP, 4 H, 2 BB, 6 K; RHP Johan Moreno (W, 2-1) 1.2 IP, 2 H, ER, BB, K; RHP Xavier Ruiz (S, 5) 1.1 IP, 2 K

Prospect Watch: After losing a series in Visalia. Lake Elsinore returned home and rode good pitching and a few big hits to win their seventh consecutive game against the Quakes. … Shortstop Leo De Vries connected on his first professional home run– a prodigious go-ahead two run shot to left. The switch-hitting infielder hit the homer while batting from the right side. The shortstop has struggled at times with the Storm this season but he’s shown a good approach at the plate as he works against much older competition while posting a .644 OPS. … Nick Vogt picked up where he left off last week, collecting two more hits. The reigning Cal League Player of the Week also drew a walk and swiped his 17th base of the year. Vogt has been red-hot in June, hitting .337/.375/.602 with five homers and 11 RBI. … Lefty Luis Gutierrez turned in another excellent start but he did not factor in the decision. The 20-year-old pitched six shutout innings, allowing just four hits and two walks, striking out six in the process. Gutierrez has allowed just one unearned run over his last two starts, spanning 11 innings. One of the headliners in the 2019 international free agent class, the Venezuela native fought through major command issues through his first years in the system, but he’s taken a big step forward in the last year as he integrates a changeup that flashes plus.

ACL Rangers 9, ACL Padres 1 (7 innings)

Key Statistics: CF Spence Coffman, 1-for-3, BB, 2 SB (12,13); 2B Yendry Rojas, 1-for-2, 2B, BB; LF Colton Vincent, 1-for-3, R; RHP Aldo Leija (L, 1-1) 1.1 IP, 4 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 2 K; LHP Adler Cecil, 2 IP, BB, 5 K

Prospect Watch: The ACL Padres fell behind early and lost handily to the ACL Rangers. … While the ACL club has struggled lately, Spence Coffman has been one of the best stories in the desert in the spring and early summer. The Mississippi native singled to extend his hitting streak to 11, drew a walk, and stole a pair of bags, giving him 13 this season. The 20-year-old has produced a .774 OPS in 37 games while adding center field to his resume. Coffman has yet to homer as a professional but he has socked a career-high five doubles. … Cuban-born infielder Yendry Rojas doubled and drew a walk in three plate appearances. The 19-year-old had a strong stretch in May, but is hitting just .240/.339/.290 in June. While he’s striking out less in his second season in the ACL, he has just five extra-base hits in 120 plate appearances. … Lefty Adler Cecil turned in one of his best outings yet out of the bullpen. Cecil completed two innings and walked just one batter while recording a career-high five strikeouts. The Temecula native, who the Padres drafted out of high school last summer, was sidelined during spring training, but has looked sharper as the season has progressed. The 19-year-old has electric stuff, but bottom-of-the-scale command, leading to a 29:26 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 16.1 innings. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Cecil return to the ACL next year as he looks to harness his repertoire.
