Prospect Watch: The Chihuahuas picked up the final five innings of their suspended game from Thursday night and were blown out by the Comets. The two teams then played a seven-inning game and El Paso lost once more. They need to win one of their final two games to avoid a 90-loss season. … Nick Pratto continued his hot hitting, collecting a walk and an RBI triple after the first game resumed before going hitless in the nightcap. The 27-year-old is hitting a scorching .390/.464/.644 with a pair of homers in September. Pratto will head back to minor league free agency this off-season. … Mason McCoy had three hits in the second game, and he added a pair of stolen bases, giving him 39 this season. The veteran utilityman was with the Padres last weekend while Ty France was on paternity leave, but he did not get into a game. Given McCoy’s positional versatility and speed, it’s not out of the question to see him make the Padres’ playoff roster. Overall, McCoy has produced a wRC+ of 87 for the Chihuahuas this season. … Jason Adam came on in the sixth, and, for the second straight outing, he was tattooed. Adam recorded just one out and allowed four runs on three hits, walking one and striking out one. The veteran righty threw 18 pitches, relying mainly on off-speed pitches. He threw just four fastballs, sitting at 92 mph. After a scoreless frame in his first rehab outing, the former all-star has been torched for nine runs while recording just one out over the last two. It’s feasible that Adam could get another outing this weekend before the minor league season ends as he attempts to get ready for a possible run in the playoffs. Adam is slated to be a free agent this off-season. … Jhony Brito made his final appearance of the minor league season, firing two scoreless innings. He allowed two hits and struck out a pair of hitters. The 28-year-old was on the Padres’ roster at the beginning of September when rosters expanded. Brito started the season on the injured list, but was the most effective arm El Paso deployed this season. He pitched to a 2.78 ERA in 45.1 innings in his final option year.
