Prospect Watch: All eyes were on rehabbing Jason Adam on Sunday. The right-hander worked a clean inning, striking out one while throwing 11 pitches. The veteran’s arsenal generated a 25% whiff rate as his four-seamer topped out at just 93.1 mph. Pitching at one of the PCL’s most “normal” parks, the fastball averaged 18 inches of induced vertical break and topped out at 20. Meanwhile, his slider spun at 2569 rpm, right around his 2025 average. … Right-hander Garrett Hawkins worked a scoreless eighth inning, as he walked one and punched out two. Hawkins’ pitch mix generated four whiffs (57% whiff rate). With his extreme over-the-top arm slot, he once again averaged 21 inches of induced vertical break on his four-seamer. However, the high-90s velocity many came to expect last season wasn’t there for Hawkins on Sunday, as his four-seamer averaged 94.1 mph and topped out at only 95. … Miguel Andujar turned in a 1-for-5 day at the dish with El Paso, with his lone knock being a 98.5 mph single. While it’s a rather tiny five-game sample size, Andujar has hit the ball hard during his rehab assignment, posting a 53.3% hard-hit rate. He’s also limited in swing-and-miss, whiffing at just a 7.4% clip. He should be clear to return to the big league club within the next day or two. … Braedon Karpathios finished his first week with El Paso going 0-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts. It was a tough week for the 23-year-old at his new level, as he went 2-for-17 with eight strikeouts in his first six games.

Prospect Watch: The Missions offense ended their 2026 season on a high note, pushing across 12 runs on 17 hits, taking advantage of the Amarillo environment to swat four homers. Hitting out of the leadoff spot, Romeo Sanabria went 3-for-4 with a homer and a pair of RBIs. After struggling during a short stint with Triple-A El Paso earlier this season, the first baseman has rebounded nicely with the Missions. He finished the 2026 season with an .831 OPS and 10 homers in 93 games on the Double-A circuit. … First baseman Kerrington Cross logged a multi-hit game going 2-for-6 with his first Texas League homer and three RBIs. Already 24 years old, the former Cincinnati Bearcat had a solid 2026 season, posting a .277/.364/.500 slash line with 18 homers and 64 RBIs. However, those numbers were heavily aided by his performance in the Cal League. … Alex McCoy closed out his 2026 season going 1-for-6 with an RBI knock. The 6-foot-7 outfielder ends his year just one homer shy of completing a 20/20 season, logging 19 homers and 24 stolen bases. Still, McCoy’s performance this season has been impressive. In 25 games with the Missions, he hit .314 with an .827 OPS. Between two minor league levels, he posted an .822 OPS, .371 wOBA, 114 wRC+, and a max exit velocity of 119.7 mph. While whiffs and chase remain concerns moving forward, McCoy proved 2025 wasn’t a flash in the pan. … Right-hander Johan Moreno worked a clean inning of relief for the Missions, allowing no runs, no hits, and striking out one. 2026 was a tale of two seasons for the 23-year-old. Over his first 18 outings, he posted a 3.96 ERA and a 27 percent strikeout rate. However, from June 6 to the end of the year, he struggled with command, posting a walk rate north of 18 percent with a 7.42 ERA.

Prospect Watch: In game one of the California League Championship series, the Storm offense exploded for 12 runs on 13 hits, with five of the starting nine logging multi-hit games. Elsinore will head to San Jose needing one more win. … Hitting out of the leadoff spot, 2026 second-rounder Elliot Lascelles went 3-for-6 with a double, three RBIs and a run scored – already his sixth multi-hit game in 18 professional starts. Lascelles’ bat-to-ball skills have been on full display during his short time with Lake Elsinore, as he posted just a 14.6% whiff rate and 86.3% contact rate during his 15 regular-season starts. … Alex Conover continued to deliver big postseason hits for the Storm, going 2-for-4 with a homer, walk, two stolen bases, four RBIs, and a run scored. In three postseason games, the 2026 4th-rounder is 7-for-12 with three extra-base hits and a 1.643 OPS. Conover’s homer was his third this season, and his second to the pull side. While he’s posted an impressive 88.6 percent in-zone contact rate, getting the ball into the air will surely be a focal point this offseason, as he currently owns a ground ball rate north of 57 percent. … This year’s seventh-rounder Joe Tiroly also shined in Sunday’s game one win, going 3-for-5 with a double, RBI, run scored and two stolen bases. The University of Virginia alum has flashed plenty of pop during his short stint in the Padres system, tallying 11 extra-base hits in 20 games. … Left-hander Adler Cecil turned in a strong relief outing, as he worked three scoreless innings and allowed two hits, walked two and punched out five. A 2023 19th-round pick out of Temecula Valley High School, the left-hander missed all of 2025 after undergoing Tommy John surgery, but has looked solid since making his affiliate debut on August 7, posting a 2.84 ERA and a 42 percent strikeout rate in 19 innings with Lake Elsinore.
