Prospect Watch: El Paso had eight extra-base hits to put up double-digit runs despite going just 4-for-20 with runners in scoring position. … Jase Bowen had a perfect night at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a pair of walks, and finishing a triple short of the cycle. Bowen connected on his team-leading 11th homer of the season, pulling within one of the PCL leaders. The former Pirate prospect’s .623 slugging percentage also ranks second in the league. … Veteran infielder Pablo Reyes had three hits, including a double. He also scored a pair of runs. The 32-year-old has had a monster May, hitting .362/.436/.702 with just four strikeouts in 53 plate appearances. The veteran infielder missed the abbreviated 2020 season with a PED suspension but has appeared in the big leagues in each of the last five seasons. He got into 24 games last year with the Yankees. … Lefty JP Sears started strong, tossing three shutout innings before unraveling in the fourth. He allowed five runs on four hits and two walks in the frame before departing with two outs. The 30-year-old veteran has had an uneven season. One of the glaring differences in Sears’ game this year has been the abundance of walks. Last season between the A’s and Padres, Sears had a 6.2% walk rate. In 2026 with El Paso, that number has nearly doubled. In addition, PCL hitters are batting .294 against him. Tuesday’s start increased his season ERA to 6.20. … David Morgan pitched a scoreless ninth, notching his second save since being demoted to Triple-A. He didn’t record a strikeout, but he did run his fastball up to 101.2 mph and five of six were in triple digits. Encouragingly, he was in the strike zone with both his fastballs and breaking pitches. Morgan has a 9.00 ERA in six innings since being demoted. He has allowed 12 hits but only walked two since joining the El Paso bullpen.

Missions 12, Frisco RoughRiders 6

Key Statistics: C Ethan Salas 2-for-4, R, 2 RBI; RF Braedon Karpathios 2-for-5, HR (3), 3 RBI; 3B Ryan Jackson 2-for-5, 2 R; LF Albert Fabian 2-for-5, HR (3); SS Francisco Acuna 1-for-3, 2 R, HR (1), 2 RBI; CF Kai Roberts 3-for-3, 3 R, HR (1), 2 BB, 2 RBI, 3 SB (13); RHP Miguel Mendez 0.2 IP, 2 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 2 K; LHP Omar Cruz (W, 2-1) 2.1 IP, 3 H, ER, BB, 2 K; RHP Andrew Dalquist 2 IP, BB, 2 K

Prospect Watch: The Missions offense put up 12 runs and clubbed four homers to win easily in their series opener in Frisco. … Right fielder Braedon Karpathios continued his hot hitting with two more hits including his third homer of the season. After a miserable April, the 23-year-old is hitting .298/.394/.491 in May, although there are still some glaring issues under the hood. Karpathios struck out twice on Tuesday, and he’s amassed a whopping 15 strikeouts in his last seven starts. The former Harford Community College outfielder has always been able to get on base, but his contact issues have to be addressed for him to have a shot at the next level. … Normally light-hitting outfielder Kai Roberts had arguably the best game of his career in the Missions’ victory. Roberts connected on an opposite-field homer – his first of the season. He also added two singles and stole three bases on the afternoon. It was Roberts’ first three-hit game since he was with the TinCaps last July 13. The 25-year-old is 6-for-9 over his last three games, raising his average from .169 to .230. … Catcher Ethan Salas didn’t homer, but he did have a pair of singles in four plate appearances. It was the second straight multi-hit game for Salas, who raised his batting average back above .300. … Righty Miguel Mendez struggled in the start and didn’t make it out of the first inning. When the smoke cleared, he allowed three runs on two hits, walking two while notching a pair of strikeouts before departing. He landed just 16 of 33 pitches in the strike zone. The 23-year-old righty has made two starts since coming off the injured list as he works his way back into form. He has a 4.67 ERA in six games for San Antonio this year.

Dayton Dragons 11, TinCaps 2

Key Statistics: CF Kasen Wells 3-for-4, 2 R; 2B Rosman Verdugo 1-for-2, 2B, 2 BB, RBI; LF Alex McCoy 1-for-5, 2B; RHP Matthew Watson (L, 0-2) 5 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, BB, 5 K; RHP Isaiah Lowe 1.1 IP, 3 H, 4 R, 3 ER, BB, K

Prospect Watch: Going into the seventh inning, the Dragons led 2-1 before erupting for nine runs in the final innings to defeat Fort Wayne at Parkview Field. … Kasen Wells singled three times and scored both of the TinCaps’ runs. The speedy outfielder has four multi-hit games over his last six starts. The recent hot stretch pulled his average up to .306, which ranks just outside the top-10 in the Midwest League. Wells hit ninth on Tuesday, adding to his astonishing numbers when hitting in the nine-hole. The 22-year-old is 12-for-19 (.632 average) when hitting ninth. … Lost in the late offense was an excellent start from righty Matthew Watson, who deserved a better fate than his second loss of the season. The righty tossed five innings, allowing two runs on five hits. He walked just one and struck out five. Watson was drafted in the 13th round in 2024 and missed all of last season after undergoing Tommy John surgery. Watson has looked good in May; in three starts, he has a 2.13 ERA, spanning 12.2 innings. … Righty Isaiah Lowe got knocked around again in relief. He tossed 1.1 innings, allowed four runs (three earned) on three hits. He walked one and struck out one. Lowe was pushed into starting four games in April, but has been sent back to the bullpen as the club got arms back this month. The transition has continued his struggles. In five relief outings, the North Carolina native has a 6.97 ERA, which is better than his ERA as a starter (8.10).

Visalia Rawhide 4, Storm 2

Key Statistics: 1B Kerrington Cross 1-for-3, R, BB, SB (4); 2B Jose Verdugo 1-for-4, 2 RBI; RHP Winyer Chourio (L, 1-1) 4.2 IP, 5 H, 4 ER, 3 BB, 9 K; RHP Nick Falter 2 IP, 3 BB, 3 K

Winyer Chourio continues to rack up strikeouts. (Photo: Robert Escalante)

Prospect Watch: The Storm made their first trip to Visalia this season and notched just two hits, losing to the Rawhide after sweeping a six-game set at home in April. … Kerrington Cross reached base twice on Tuesday with a single and a walk. He also stole his fourth base of the season. The 24-year-old extended his hitting streak to five games. He is 7-for-15 during the stretch with three doubles and a homer. Given his age and the fact that he’s hitting .395/.540/.658 in May, he could be in line for a promotion in the coming weeks. … Righty Winyer Chourio showed flashes Tuesday but struggled with command and took his first loss of the year. Chourio allowed four runs in 4.2 innings, walking three. Continuing a positive theme, the 22-year-old struck out nine batters. In three starts this month, Chourio has struck out a whopping 25 batters in just 13.2 innings. Overall, he leads the Cal League with 51 strikeouts in only 30.1 innings. … Righty Nick Falter tossed two scoreless innings, working around three walks. He struck out a pair. The 23-year-old Ohio native has been the most consistent reliever for the Storm in 2026. He’s impressed in May, especially, holding opponents to a paltry .122 average.

ACL Padres 7, ACL Mariners 6 (7 innings)

Key Statistics: C Brendan Durfee 1-for-3, 2B, RBI; 3B Dawson Willis 1-for-4; 2B Yimy Tovar 2-for-3, 3 RBI; RHP Luis Maracara 1.2 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 2 K; LHP Ryan Och IP, K; RHP Yoesmerli Beltre (W, 1-0) 2 IP, BB, 2 K; RHP Jordan Valenzuela (S, 2) IP, BB, 3 K

Prospect Watch: The ACL Padres defeated their rivals from across the complex in the battle for Peoria supremacy. … Catcher Brendan Durfee had a double in three plate appearances as he began his rehab assignment. The former UC Santa Barbara backstop will build up in the desert for a bit, perhaps heading out to the Missions when he is ready to go. … Third baseman Dawson Willis made his professional debut, going 1-for-4 in the win. The infielder signed with the Padres as an undrafted free agent last season after playing his college ball in Oklahoma. … Lefty Ryan Och began his rehab assignment as well, pitching a scoreless frame with a strikeout. Och, 27 was in big league camp earlier this spring but has been sidelined. He will get a few more outings in the desert before heading to either San Antonio or El Paso.
